AFRIKA EYE 2011 -  A STORMING SUCCESS!!

Afrika Eye Film Festival has just enjoyed its most successful run since it began seven years ago! From Friday 28 to Sunday 30 October, Watershed in Bristol was packed with eager viewers of all ages and ethnicities. Tickets for the opening film, SING YOUR SONG, and for ROBERT MUGABE...WHAT HAPPENED? were like gold dust and many were turned away disappointed and demanding more screenings be organised! Watershed recorded a 36% increase in attendance compared to last year’s festival and what’s more, discussion continued outside the cinema doors, heated and political. From Afrika Eye headquaters, we must ask... Does this reflect a widening interest in African culture and politics as the continent’s global importance is set to heighten through the 21st century?
Long Live Afrika Eye!

A few of the highlights so far....

Hassan Erraji, Moroccan maestro, leads the launch party.

Shema mesmorises the crowd with her Middle Eastern dancing.
